MADE IN LA
All garments are manufactured in Los Angeles. Our LA based production partner pays fair wages to labor workers. We love supporting our US economy.
SOURCED IN INDIA
We use Art Silk fabric ethically sourced from India. We love supporting Indian textile manufacturers and the Indian economy.
ZERO WASTE
Our production partner saves every piece of material from hitting the cutting room floor. All scrap fabrics are collected and repurposed into accessories.
SEED PAPER HANG TAGS
100% USA Made! GO GREEN! We love our planet and the CEO boss lady loves her nature! Our seed paper hang tags are made by hand from 100% post-consumer recycled material and embedded with a mixture of wildflower seeds. Our hang tags use earth-friendly water-soluble inks that won’t damage the seeds to ensure maximum germination when planted.
COMPOSTABLE MAILERS
We’ve teamed up with NoIssue Eco Packaging Alliance to introduce our 100% compostable mailers; a great step towards sustainable packaging. Our mailers decompose within 90 days and can be composted both at home and commercially.
Our compostable mailers are made from a combination of PBAT, a bio based polymer which is compostable, and PLA which is made up of plant materials such as regular field corn and wheat straw. Our use of PLA makes up barely 0.05% of the annual global corn crop, making it an incredibly low-impact resource. Click here to learn more.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
We love to give back and support! House of Suraj will be donating $5 from each pair of overalls sold in store to The Unique Woman’s Coalition (UWC), the first Black trans women led organization in Los Angeles dedicated to fostering the next generation of Black trans leadership through mentorship, scholarship, and community care engagement work.
An additional $5 from each pair of overalls will be donated to Kumari’s 501c3 non profit, Dance for Peace: One Step At A Time. Dedicated to supporting both queer and allied performing artists of color during the COVID-19 pandemic through emergency funding, dance workshops, dance festivals like Waackfest.
